President Tinubu Commiserates With Victims Of Ibaji Boat Mishap

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic boat accident in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State on Tuesday, which claimed several lives.

According to reports, the victims were traders travelling from Ibaji to Ilushi Market in Edo State when the unfortunate incident occurred. The President described the loss of lives as “shocking and heartbreaking, especially as the victims were engaged in their legitimate quest to earn a living.”

President Tinubu commended the first responders who rushed to the scene and directed federal, state, and local emergency agencies to intensify efforts in supporting survivors and assisting affected families. He further urged operators of water transport to prioritise safety over profit, stressing that recurring, avoidable tragedies on Nigeria’s waterways must come to an end.

While consoling the families of the deceased, President Tinubu prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed and a speedy recovery for those injured, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to strengthening safety measures and protecting the lives of all Nigerians.
