Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, CON, Thursday at the nation’s capital, in Abuja, has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the 16th President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on conferment of the national honour in commemoration of the June 12, Democracy Day 2025.

The National Honour was established by the National Honour Act CAP N43 of the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004. The act empowers the President to establish by warrant the Nigerian Order of Dignity to honour deserving citizens who have contributed to the development and progress of the country.
In a heartfelt message, Bayo expressed his profound gratitude to President Tinubu for the recognition. He acknowledged the significance of the award, not just as a personal achievement, but also as a tribute to his contributions to Nigerian journalism and democracy.
- Onanuga, a fearless and dogged journalist, disclosed to newsmen in Abuja that he appreciates the President, “for the national honours conferred on him and his numerous colleagues, who ‘braved the odds and the guns’ to enthrone democracy and fight for the de-annulment of the June 12 election result.
The honour as a Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) award was a fitting recognition of Bayo’s impact on the country’s media landscape. He pledged to continue serving Nigeria with integrity, humility, and a commitment to excellence, inspiring others to do the same.
He expressed gratification for his recognition, affirming that “he will continue to serve his country in the best way he knows,” President Tinubu adviser assured.
