President Tinubu’s Transformative Impact On Water Resources and Agricultural Development

On this second anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, I celebrate a leadership deeply committed to securing Nigeria’s agricultural future through revolutionary water management and rural development.

From its inception, the Renewed Hope Agenda has recognized water infrastructure as the foundation of food security. Under President Tinubu’s stewardship, I’ve witnessed firsthand how our agricultural development trajectory has been redefined through innovative irrigation solutions, rural electrification, and sustainable water management.

Through transformative initiatives in the water sector, we’ve achieved what many thought impossible. Dams that stood abandoned for decades now provide life-giving water to thousands of farms. Solar-powered irrigation systems have turned dry seasons into productive planting periods. Farm access roads have connected previously isolated communities to thriving markets.

In just two years, these water-focused interventions have delivered tangible results:

•          Revitalized irrigation schemes now support year-round farming

•          Solar-powered water solutions bring relief to water-stressed communities

•          Modernized dams provide both agricultural and drinking water

•          Rural electrification projects empower agro-processing centers

These achievements transcend agricultural benefits – they’re creating jobs, reducing poverty, and building climate resilience across rural Nigeria.

The restoration of our river basins is not just about water – it’s about restoring hope to farming communities across Ogun, Osun, Ondo and Lagos States.

The path ahead is clear: water security is not a luxury but a necessity for national development. I call on all stakeholders – farmers, state governments, development partners and local communities – to join hands in sustaining this momentum.

Let us continue to work together to quench the thirst of our farmlands and empower our rural economies.

*Signed,*

Hon. Ayobami Oyalowo

Executive Director, Finance & Administration
